Dabaotai Tomb Site Museum in Beijing
Discovered in June 1974, Dabaotai tomb site holds the final resting places of Liu Jian, the King of Guangyang during the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC – 25 AD), and his queen. This ancient burial ground made history as China’s first archaeological find to fully reveal the grand Han imperial tomb structure — complete with the Zigong (outer coffin chamber), Bianfang (side chambers for rituals and offerings), and most remarkably, the Huangchang Ticou — a unique and sacred wooden vault built from cross-stacked cypress timbers.
