Originally constructed in 1420 during the Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty, this site once stood at the heart of imperial agricultural rites — where emperors of both the Ming and Qing dynasties paid homage to the God of Agriculture and performed the symbolic spring ploughing ceremony.
